We were proud to be headline sponsor for the 25th Annual Calcutta Run, which is a significant event in the Irish legal calendar every year, and which raises vital funds to help tackle homelessness in Ireland and Kolkata.
This year, being the quarter-century anniversary, was extra special. And, as always, the funds raised do vital work in combatting homelessness in Ireland and Kolkata.
The day of the run itself was amazing, it was just the second year back since the covid pandemic halted runs in 2020, and 2021, and once again the weather deities were kind. The sunshine, the setting, the atmosphere, were all glorious!
To help the revellers and the runners on the day, we brought sunscreen and sunglasses, as well as an extra marquee to give some shade for those who needed it!
This provided an opportunity to chat to the wide range of folks from the legal profession on the day, and we had some fantastic conversations. As Chris [Legal Solutions Director for Johnson Hana] said in the video interview above:
“These events are really important for the legal community because there’s a history of a lot of burnout, of people being overworked. And this is one of the few opportunities [they have] to just get out, meet other people, do a bit of exercise, clear the head. And then maybe realise that there are other ways of working that you didn’t have before, like with Johnson Hana. Then maybe realise that this could be your lifestyle every weekend, it doesn’t have to be just once a year.”– Chris Murnane, Legal Solutions Director at Johnson Hana
A special thanks should also be made to the Calcutta Run staff (in particular to Hilary and Julie), the Law Society (especially Director General Mark Garrett), to Father Peter McVerry (and all the amazing staff and volunteers at the Peter McVerry Trust), as well as all of the incredible folks at The Hope Foundation.
