A new set of standard contractual clauses under GDPR for transfers of data outside the EEA was introduced by the EC with a requirement for in-scope contracts to be amended accordingly.
The client had a large volume of both vendor contracts and revenue generating (partner) agreements stored on separate internal systems across all global jurisdictions.
To implement the SCC’s and confirm appropriate safeguards to ensure that EU standards of personal data protection “travel with the data”, it was necessary to identify which of client’s vendor and partner agreements required incorporation of the new SCC’s.
The client did not have the capacity or expertise to prepare and issue amendments to counterparties to incorporate the SCCs at this scale of project.
